VACANCIES ON TOWN BOARDS & COMMISSIONS

The Board of Selectmen is seeking citizens who wish to serve on various Town boards and committees.  There are vacancies on the following boards and committees:

The Lancaster Coffeehouse is looking for donations of card tables for next year's performance season. Call 365-2043 if you have a table to donate.


The Recycling Committee is looking for volunteers. Anyone who helps out for eight hours will get a free T-shirt. On the front is the recycling logo. On the back, it says, "Let me tell you where to put it." The recycling center, located at the town barn, Center Bridge Road, is open Friday, 12 to 2 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to noon. There is no annual fee, but there is a fee for some items, including appliances ($5 per) and tires ($1 per). For more information, call Martha Ford at 537-0914.


The Historical Commission is asking residents to "Adopt a Marker." There are 100 historical markers in town denoting names of sites, such as bridges, homes and villages. Citizens interested in adopting a marker by clearing brush and exposing the markers, call the Historical Commission at 368-1162.


Seniors are needed to be friendly visitors at River Terrace HealthCare, 1657 Main St. For more information, call 365-4537.


The schools need volunteers to work with students in enrichment clusters twice a month, as well as to read with students, help with copying and correct homework. In addition, volunteers are needed to assist the school nurses with eye and ear tests. For more information, call Jean Rubin, 365-4558.


HOSTS are needed to work one hour a week with a student in math. Materials are provided and planning is done for the HOSTS. For more information, call Connie Cleary, 365-4558.


The Volunteer Humane Society is collecting "Homeless Homer" and "Morris" labels from Heinz pet products. Pet owners who wish to help the shelter can drop off labels at the shelter or send labels to the Volunteer Humane Society, 505 Center Bridge Road, Lancaster, MA 01523-2277.
